What is 15-5PH STAINLESS STEEL?
15-5PH (UNS S15500) is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel known for exceptional toughness and weldability, outperforming its predecessor, 17-4PH, in those respects. Like other martensitic grades it is magnetic and can be hardened via heat treatment, unlike ferritic stainless steels, which cannot.
While ferritic grades resist corrosion and oxidation relatively well and are more resistant to stress-corrosion cracking, they fall short of austenitic grades in overall corrosion performance.
15-5PH delivers high strength, solid corrosion resistance, and excellent mechanical properties across aerospace, nuclear, marine, and chemical processing industries.
